I’m finally using an RSS aggregator (SharpReader for those that care). It seems like what people do for getting their friends page as a feed is one of the many customview’s – however, I haven’t found one I’m fully happy with just yet. However, 379504 (IOW, http://www.livejournal.com/customview.cgi?user=USERNAME’&styleid=379504) is relatively decent. Anyone know of a better RSS/ATOM customview style available?

I got the oddest look from a random person with the sentence: “Well, pigeonhole theory obviously dictates at least one blue moon per year”
[Edit] – looks like I’ve been lied to all these many years – lunar cycles aren’t 28 days after all, but 29.5 days?
To (mis)quote one of my favorite West Wing lines, I’m not sure I’m comfortable living in a world where the moon’s cycle in 29.5 days. My sky is falling.
Excuse me while I go do some experiments. If my belief of Avogadro is off, too, I may have to take a Cartesian (well, in terms of Descarte) journey back to “I think, therefore I am” and go from there. I shall miss this elaborate web of lies that was my reality.
a bit of the old ultraviolencemelodrama, eh?

wow, that storm came out of nowhere (from the perspective of 27713 at least).
Guess I don’t get to play ultimate tonight.

Not sure if it helps anyone else, but if you’re using an IE “shell” then Maxthon (formerly MyIE2) is definitely the way to go – it has the one thing I missed about crazy browser (ctrl+shift+n opens url from clipboard) and feels much nicer than Avant. It’s currently in beta waiting for a release (hence the rename), but it works better for my usage patterns so far.
YMMV, of course, that’s how these things are :)

While playing ultimate on Monday night, met a Steve Cheslow (sp?) that works for Intel – he said he works for at their design center in north raleigh. Makes me wonder if is considering a transfer :) I mentioned the situation and Steve said almost everyone there were transfers :)

Jay’s blog post is pretty interesting. It kind of makes me chuckle thinking of how many people would freak seeing a Microsoft job posting with a phrase “Experience with and assembly level debugging skills on Power and SPARC processors are definitely a plus”.
Bonus points for those that realize the Power architecture isn’t just the PowerPC – course, it’s kind of cheating for me, having admin’d and developed on rs6k’s of ppc/power4 varieties back at IBM, after all. :) No, I’m not looking to move to Redmond any time soon, despite cool stuff like that :)

I played Ultimate tonight of course – and tonight, one of the players on the other team was someone I wasn’t sure I’d ever see again – ’s own brother, Lane Wigley! He’s flying back out tomorrow (he’s got an Ultimate tournament over the weekend back home in Cali). He’s still at Cisco of course, and we had a nice quick chat about politics:
- he doesn’t have time for it any more
- he introduced me to listening to Rush back in CATT
- Kerry doesn’t bother doing political ads in Cali – it’s considered an easy win and a waste of money to spend money there
It was kind of funny when he showed up at the field – my first comment as we were throwing around – “You know, you look a lot like Lane Wigley” – his response (iirc) “That’s because I am Lane Wigley” (I hadn’t seen him in 4 years or so – give me a break!) – he played very well (far better than me, that’s not saying much though) and I think we both had a good time :)

random bathroom reader stat: over 50% of the world’s scientists are assigned to military projects.
It had a page of Brando quotes about acting too – those were weird to read.

A GM “summerdrive” commercial (the one with them throwing the frisbee around) starts with a guy throwing a “flick” out of the passenger side of a car. It was neat to see at first, now I’m realizing the schmuck’s got a better flick than I do. Now, I hate him with the fire of a thousand suns (give or take). Like you do.
