Kind of hard to explain
Vanguard’s got a hold on one of my accounts (well, one of my son’s college savings accounts, actually) and since I sent in the form over a month ago to fix that (W-9, stating his SSN), I wanted to ask “what’s the hold up?” - so I clicked on the Contact Us link at the top of their page (once you’re logged in). In a new pop-up window you get a blank page. I thought maybe it was trying to run something (applet, activex control, whatever), so I did a view source (after it failed to work in both Firefox 2.0.0.1 and IE7) to see:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC “-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN”>
<HTML><HEAD>
<META http-equiv=Content-Type content=”text/html; charset=windows-1252″></HEAD>
<BODY></BODY></HTML>
Thanks Vanguard! Nice to see how much your customers and their concerns are an issue for you. Yeah, I know I can call, but I *like* having electronic paper trails for my communications and not having to limit myself to calls during business hours when I have tons of other things to do (like, well, that whole pesky day job thing).
