Why is a definition file update for Microsoft Security Essentials considered optional?

It seems very odd to me.  Certainly MSE will attempt to do the update itself, but on the surface of things you’re marking a security ‘fix’ (which it is, since the definition file has changed) as optional.  Just from a customer confidence perspective it seems like an odd choice, IMHO 🙂

  1. It’s actually downloaded and installed by MSE itself. not WU, they are just listed in WU as well.
